Paul Osborn, CPA, CVA, recently had the opportunity to address students in the University of Arkansas Medical School’s class, “Business of Medicine.”

Osborn speaks annually at the class, which is led by Dr. Jason Mizell. He offers a one-hour session that gives an overview of the United States federal income tax system. This year’s lecture took place on January 13.

“Speaking at Dr. Mizell’s business medicine class is always one of the highlights of my year,” said Paul. “The class is one-of-a-kind for most medical students, which I love. I truly feel like I’m adding great value for them.”

Since its inception in 2011, “Business of Medicine” has received national recognition for covering a topic not frequently addressed for medical students: financial and practice management. The course covers a wide variety of topics, including billing and coding, setting up a medical practice, use of EMR, avoiding malpractice, and personal finance for medical professionals.

A professional in the field since 2006, Paul joined the HCJ CPAs & Advisors team in 2015. His areas of service include tax and valuation, mergers and acquisitions, and exit planning. He serves clients in the medical practice, manufacturing, real estate, and professional services industries. Paul is currently affiliated with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Arkansas Society of CPAs (ASCPA), and the national Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts (NACVA). An Arkansas native, Paul lives in his hometown, Little Rock, with his wife and their five children.
