HCJ CPAs & Advisors PLLC is pleased to announce the promotions of Thom Cobb, Zachary Williams, CPA, and Paula Smithart, CPA, to Manager roles within the firm. Each brings a unique blend of experience, skill, and dedication that will continue to strengthen the firm’s service to clients across industries.

Thom Cobb has been promoted to Audit Manager. Since joining HCJ CPAs & Advisors in 2019, Thom has been a key contributor within the Audit Department. He plays a leading role in client management, strategic planning, leadership support, and business development. Thom specializes in audit and financial reporting for construction, agriculture, and ERISA clients. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and is a member of the Arkansas Society of CPAs (ARCPA). Known for his friendly approach and willingness to go the extra mile, Thom brings thoughtful leadership and professionalism to every engagement.

Zachary Williams, CPA, has been promoted to Tax Manager. Zach joined the firm in 2021 and is an active member of the Tax Department. He serves on both the Technical Updates Committee—monitoring legislative tax changes—and the Onboarding & CPE Committee, helping guide the development of new team members. Zach holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Arkansas and a Master of Accountancy from Arkansas State University. His focus lies in individual and business taxation, with particular expertise in the agriculture and construction sectors. Zach is a member of the AICPA and the Northeast Chapter of the Arkansas Society of CPAs.

Paula Smithart, CPA, has been promoted to CAS Manager. With more than 30 years of experience in both public and private accounting, Paula joined HCJ CPAs & Advisors in 2023. She serves in the Client Accounting Services (CAS) Department, assisting clients with accounting systems, payroll, payroll tax issues, and sales tax compliance. Paula is a graduate of Arkansas State University and is licensed in both Arkansas and Alabama. She is also a member of the AICPA and Alabama Society of CPAs. Her wide-ranging background and tenacious approach make her a trusted advisor to clients in industries such as property management, healthcare, and agriculture.
